Aborigonal History

Aborigonal History

The history of Evans Head had its beginnings long before white settlement in 1877. The Aborigonal people occupied the land around the Evans river for hundreds of years and were known as the "Bundjalung" or "the people who speak sloe". There were two different groups: the Bireen who lived on the southside of the river and the Bundjalaic. Many dreamtime legends tell the stories of these people.
